Name spellings, affiliations etc in the archive and the linked results listings
available from this page are based on the archive. In general, the archive
uses the spelling first used by a participant, unless the name change is
permanent (e.g. when a lady marries - please advise me so that I can keep your
record complete), to avoid risk of
confusion between people with similar names, e.g. Steve Walker, Steven Walker
and Stephen Walker. For doppelgangers (e.g. the two Stephen Walker's who have
appeared) identification text may be added to the name for the archive.

Girl Power – Rowbotham’s Round Rotherham Run 2025
The 42nd edition of the Rowbotham’s Round Rotherham Run will be remembered as one of the most remarkable in its history – and not just because Storm Amy lashed the UK on race day, Saturday 4th October. This year’s story belonged firmly to the women.
From Dark Peak Fell Runners (RHAC), Emily Cowper-Coles produced a performance for the ages, storming around the 50-mile course in a record-breaking 7:18:03, not only taking the women’s crown but also becoming the overall race winner. It is only the second time in the event’s 42 years that a female has claimed the outright victory – a landmark moment for the race.
The battle at the front could not have been closer. Five-time previous winner Kevin Hoult of Calder Valley Fell Runners pushed Emily all the way, finishing just 1 minute 24 seconds behind her in 7:19:27. Third overall and second male was Ian Symington in 7:21:15, while Mariusz Felczerek of Doncaster AC claimed third male in 7:36:47.
The women’s race also showcased depth and determination. Behind Emily, Lisa Walbridge, 2023 winner, took second in a course PB of 8:21:26, and Katy Boulton ran a superb personal best to secure third in 9:27:58.
In total, 187 runners completed the solo event, with a further 18 retiring, many no doubt influenced by the testing conditions brought on by Storm Amy. Every finisher earned their place in what proved to be one of the most challenging editions in recent memory.
The relay competition was equally fierce, with 22 teams battling across the eight stages. Worksop Harriers Green Giant once again showed their dominance, storming to victory in the Open category with a blistering 5:47:45. Their all-female squad, the Bassetlaw Babes, proved just as unstoppable, taking gold in 6:47:03. In the Mixed category, the honours went to the Killamarsh Kestrels (Kestrels Rockets), who raced home in 6:26:35.
Meanwhile, the Team of 3 Saltaire Striders, whose combined time of 26:17:29 secured them the honours in a true test of collective endurance.
As always, beyond the headline performances, the event was defined by community spirit. Volunteers once again rose to the occasion, staffing the eight checkpoint feed stations with a wide variety of food, drink, and, just as importantly, words of encouragement and good humour. Their energy helped carry runners through the toughest miles.
Big thank you to our supports at TRA (Trail Runners Association), INOV8 Sheffield & Andrew Rogers Wealth Management your support is invaluable.
Despite the impact of Storm Amy, the route was largely dry and runnable, with only a few muddy sections to add to the challenge.
The 2025 Round Rotherham will be remembered not only for its dramatic racing and record-breaking times, but also as a year when girl power reigned supreme.
Congratulations to all the athletes, relay teams, team-of-3 competitors, volunteers, and organisers who made this unforgettable day possible.
