Name spellings, affiliations etc in the archive and the linked results listings available from this page are based on the archive.  In general, the archive uses the spelling first used by a participant, unless the name change is permanent (e.g. when a lady marries - please advise me so that I can keep your record complete), to avoid risk of confusion between people with similar names, e.g. Steve Walker, Steven Walker and Stephen Walker. For doppelgangers (e.g. the two Stephen Walker's who have appeared) identification text may be added to the name for the archive.
Please let me,
Henry Marston, know if you are aware of any errors or glitches such as missing links.

Preliminary results created by Fabian4 appear on the RaceTek website

Graphical and more digestible tabular analysis will be provided from this page (in progress).

Certificates for the Round Rotherham are now available. They can be provided as a .pdf for you to print out. It is also possible to print them on a heavier-than-usual yellow paper. Let us know if you would like one by emailing Henry Marston.  Basically we need your finish position and name, as shown on my data source for the certificates: Full results

In case you are wondering, it was Peter Neal who won the second edition.

Stephen Rowbotham's event report:

Race Report: 2024 Rowbotham's Round Rotherham 50 Mile Trail Race

The 2024 edition of Rowbotham's Round Rotherham, a trail race now celebrating its 41st anniversary, saw 188 solo runners and 26 relay teams gather at the starting line for the gruelling 50-mile challenge. With a backdrop of perfect though slightly warm (for the athlete’s) weather, competitors embarked on a course that circumnavigates the scenic metropolitan borough of Rotherham.

In the days leading up to the event, we faced potential route changes due to flooding between Checkpoint 3 (CP3) and other areas of the course. Fortunately, conditions improved just in time, allowing the full race to proceed on the traditional course. The race kicked off with an early start for walkers at 4:00 a.m. from the picturesque Manvers Waterfront, followed by the runners and relay teams who set off at 8:00 a.m.

This year’s route, as always, provided a series of unique challenges, ranging from footpaths and ploughed fields to tricky navigation sections, all while offering breathtaking views of the Rotherham countryside. Athletes were supported at seven well-stocked checkpoints along the course, each manned by dedicated volunteers who provided endless supplies of food, drinks, and crucial words of encouragement. These volunteers, as always, played a central role in the race’s success, offering smiles and support, and even an occasional motivational push to competitors starting to wane.

In the men’s race, the top spot once again belonged to Kevin Hoult of Calder Valley Fell Runners, claiming his fifth win out of thirteen attempts, crossing the finish line in an impressive 7:10. Just ten minutes behind him was Hamish McDougall, finishing in 7:20, while Mark Robbins rounded out the podium with a time of 7:42.

The women’s competition was equally thrilling, with local runner Susan Keens of Maltby RC taking first place in 8:21 for her second victory. She was closely followed by Lisa Walkbridge, just two minutes behind at 8:23, and Abbey Heffren of Killamarsh Kestrels securing third place in 9:11.

The post-race awards were presented by Peter Elliot MBE, President of the Rotherham Harriers and a club legend in his own right. Special thanks were extended to the many organizations and individuals who made the day possible, including #Fabian4 timing, #Science in Sport - Nutrition, #Andrew Rodgers Wealth Management, #Manvers Waterfront, #RMBC, #Trail Runners Association, and #Julian Hall First Aid, along with the tireless volunteers who handled course management, checkpoints, and the start/finish line.

The 41st edition of the Round Rotherham was a fitting celebration of endurance, community, and dedication—both from the athletes and the incredible team behind the event. Here's to many more years of this iconic trail race!

The awards are based on my records; please let me know if there is an error (contact information below). Names get spelled differently in different years (Steve or Stephen), ladies marry, and certain names have been duplicated, easy when there were two Nigel Robinson's in one year, more difficult when there were John White's in different years, from different clubs (which is not decisive) but different DOB (which usually is).

Retirements are included with main results
